We are thrilled to announce the new Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall will officially open on August 1. In conjunction with this exciting milestone, we will launch a new housing application process specifically for this residence building.
Please take a moment to read the details below carefully, as the information is important and time-sensitive.
Virtual Information Session
To help students learn more about the Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall application process, Housing will be hosting an information session via Zoom on Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 PM. This session will be recorded and posted on the housing website along with the slide show if you cannot attend.

General Overview
The Housing Office has partnered with StarRez—our housing software vendor—to upgrade the housing application system. The Family and Weill Family Residence Hall presents the opportunity to introduce a new way of processing housing applications. Our goal is a streamlined system that is transparent and user-friendly and allows you to have more agency in the selection process.
Key Changes
Profile Creation
Prior to opening the room selection process, students will be asked to log into WCM’s Housing Portal and create a housing profile. Profile information includes name, current living location, and contact information.
Additionally, your profile will allow you to consent to sharing your name with future roommates. Due to federal education privacy laws (FERPA), the Housing Office is unable to disclose housing information without your consent. In the past, this has prohibited us from disclosing future roommates’ contact information to each other. If you choose to allow the Housing Office to share your contact information, we can put roommates in touch with each other before moving in.
Roommate Matching
If you intend to live with a roommate in the Family and Weill Family Residence Hall and know your preferred roommate in advance, the WCM Housing Portal will allow you to link your applications together. You can also designate a leader for your pairing who can make decisions for both of you during the selection process.
Points
You will be assigned a time to log back into the WCM Housing Portal based on your points; those with the highest number of points will go first. You may log in at any time between your designated start time and the date applications close.
Points Structure:
- All off-campus students: 1 point
- 1st year WCM & MSK residents: 2 points
- 2nd year WCM & MSK residents: 3 points
- 3rd year WCM & MSK residents: 4 points
Room Selection
Rather than the Housing Office informing you which apartment you will live in, you select your apartment. If you link your application with your preferred roommate, the designated leader of your pairing can pick the apartment and bedrooms for both parties.
All floorplans and pricing for the new building are located here.
After you log in, you will see all available rooms—both studios and two-shares—and can select the one you want. Once you have selected a room for either yourself or your roommate, the room is reserved and cannot be selected by anyone else.
If you entered the process with a roommate and do not find any desirable two-shares available, you can unlink your application, and each roommate can look for a room individually or opt out of the housing process and remain where you are.
You can exit the housing application process at any time.
Move-In Dates
Residents will be able to move into the new building beginning August 1. After you have selected your unit, you can choose a move-in date and time that works best for you.

Next Steps You Need to Take
If you currently live in WCM Housing (Lasdon, Stahl, Olin, 77th Street), you already have a WCM Housing Portal account. In a separate email that will be sent by next week, WCM Housing will send you a link to the WCM Housing Portal with login directions.
If you do not live in WCM Housing (off-campus, MSK, Rockefeller), WCM Housing will send you an email with instructions on how to create an account.
**Please try to log in before June 30 to ensure your access is working. While you must wait until June 30 to create your Feil Family and Weill Family Student Residence housing profile, early login allows us more time to address any potential login issues.
