Southtown is a 16-story luxury apartment building that houses postdoctoral associates and their family members. It’s located on Roosevelt Island, which is a subway or tram ride across the East River from our main campus. Accommodations include unfurnished studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments for postdocs and their families, as well as two and three-bedroom apartments shared by postdoc roommate groups. All apartments have full kitchens and baths.
Furnishings: None. Residents must provide their own furniture. Each unit has standard kitchen appliances.
Utilities: Water and heat are included in your rent, but you are responsible for gas and electric. You must set up your account with Con Edison—NYC’s gas and electric provider— prior to moving in. You can also contact a local cable provider for cable TV and internet service.
Air Conditioning: HVAC units in each room.
Pets: Pets are permitted, but prior approval is required and a fee may apply. For more details, incoming residents can contact Housing, while current residents can speak with building staff at the concierge desk.
While Southtown is a primarily a postdoctoral associate building, current residents who are promoted to a faculty title (Instructor or above) at Weill Cornell Medicine may be permitted to remain in their apartment at the faculty rate.
