Housing Reassignment FAQs

I want to stay in my current residence and do not want to move. Do I need to do anything?

Yes, please log into the WCM Housing Portal, and select 2026-2027 Housing Reassignment. Follow the options to renew your housing agreement for your current housing. YOU MUST RENEW YOUR HOUSING AGREEMENT FOR THE UPCOMING ACADEMIC YEAR.

How do I find more information about the housing reassignment process?

A second information session will be held on March 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM, after housing applications open but prior to the deadline, to review the reassignment process and answer any questions that have arisen.

How is housing priority determined?

WCM uses a points system to allocate housing. For students living on campus, rising second-year students are assigned two points; rising third-year students are assigned three points; and rising fourth-year students are assigned four points.

  • A student is assigned a maximum of four points.
  • Students living off campus are assigned one point.
  • Housing is allocated to those with the highest points first.
  • In the event of a tie in points, a lottery system is used.
  • Please note that students living in MSKCC housing are considered to be living on campus.

What is the timing of housing reassignment?

Below is an overview of the housing timeline.

March

  • Renew housing agreement if remaining in the same room.
  • Complete a housing application if you are planning on relocating.
  • Note: All students living in Olin Hall must relocate.

April

  • Timeslots to select housing are issued to students based on their points.
  • Students enter housing selection at their appointed timeslot.

May

  • Housing agreements are issued to all students for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Moves begin and continue throughout the summer.

Will I be able to see what rooms are available prior to room selection?

Yes, you will be able to log into the portal and see available rooms prior to and up until your actual selection timeslot.

If I am taking a leave of absence, what happens to my housing priority?

All Leave of Absences (LOA) must be approved by WCM. Personal and medical LOAs are considered an off-campus move.

Who is eligible for housing?

All single students are guaranteed housing. WCM provides housing to families, staff, and faculty as inventory allows.

Are there junior one-bedrooms available in Stahl?

Junior one-bedroom apartments are no longer available at Stahl.

When do the 2026-2027 rents go into effect?

2026-2027 rents go into effect on July 1, 2026, for all student residents.

When do I have to move out if I am graduating this year?

Congratulations!  If you are graduating from the MD program, you must vacate WCM housing by May 17, 2026.  If you are graduating from the graduate school, you must vacate WCM housing sixty days from dissertation defense.

I would like to live alone in a one-bedroom/two-bedroom. Is that possible?

No, one-bedroom apartments are reserved for families of three or more. Two-shares are reserved for two single students.

What buildings have family housing?

Family housing is located at Lasdon House and the Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall. Please note that WCM does not guarantee family housing. Families of two are placed in studios, and families of three or more are housed in one-bedroom apartments.
